You may think the "entertainment value" of some old-time children's shows is slow and un-exciting....but little children do not. When adults are busy being busy with their own lives - the kids just need some time with you. It was shows like Captain Kangaroo or Mr. Roger's Neighborhood that provided the normalcy that American kids were lacking in their own homes. Notice how slowly he speaks! That's what little kids so often need! Take note.
